Mad Science!

The Mad Science "Be Tobacco Free" is a highly interactive assembly that includes fascinating science demonstrations and special effects that highlight the health risks of tobacco use. Students see the impact of second-hand smoke using a smoking chamber and witness a simulation of the effects of nicotine on the heart and circulatory systems.
At Pelion Elementary, students really got into this presentation and enjoyed participating!

Flip Books and Snowflakes

During art enrichment this month third, fourth, and fifth graders made flip books. They made books about food, people, animals, shapes, words, and much more! The books turned out well and students really enjoyed showing off their masterpieces!

Kindergarten, first, and second grade students practiced scissors skills and radial symmetry by creating paper snowflake cut-outs.

Art Enrichment

Fourth and fifth grade students learned about Optical Illusions during Art Enrichment time this week!
Optical illusions are images that trick the eye. The artists Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely are great examples of Op Artists (artists who create art with optical illusions)! Students examined a variety of optical illusions, then drew their own!

Checking out an illusion! It looks like it's moving!
